In most countries, Interior Design is considered as serious business. It is offered as a major in some colleges and universities. In fact, some academies and schools were built for the sole purpose of training interior designers. This is proof that the industry is growing.
Interior designers are employed to plan and design or redesign interiors for both aesthetic and practical purposes. They usually work directly with clients and contractors. They must not only be familiar the basics of design, but also have great taste and eye for style, and knowledge of basic structural soundness.
While interior design might seem to be a frivolous industry, it is becoming and more of a necessity with the advent of green living, and space constrictions.
